A 5-minute drive from Bassenthwaite Lake, Ravenstone Manor is an 19th-century manor house set in 3 hectares of ground. The property is at the foot of Skiddaw, overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. It offers stone walls and en suite bathrooms.WOW! My husband and I spent a bank holiday weekend at The Ravenstone with our dog, and it was truly one of the most delightful hotel experiences I've ever had. The property is so charming, and the rooms were very large and comfortable. The food was incredible and the bar had so many options. But more than anything, the staff was simply superb -- from Joe the bartender to the manager who carries around sausages for the dogs to the front desk staff, everyone went above and beyond the entire weekend. My husband and I are not typically the kind of people who spend a lot of time at hotels when we travel, but The Ravenstone was so lovely (and the food was so delicious) that we really didn't have any reason to go into Keswick during our stay. You can also walk to all of the good hiking areas, as well as Lake Bassthelwaite. Last but not least, the hotel is SO dog-friendly! They even have complimentary dog beds and bowls available and dogs are welcome everywhere at the property; however, it never felt like there were too many dogs or that we were staying in a kennel -- it was simply an above-and-beyond hotel experience and the dogs were icing on the cake.
